Everton: Fans split over comments from Cenk Tosun about life at Palace

After joining Crystal Palace on loan from Everton this January, scoring on his debut during the Eagles’ heroic 2-2 draw at Manchester City, striker Cenk Tosun has since come out in praise of his new club – hinting that the London side has a more ‘intimate‘ feeling rather than just being ‘well organised‘.

Speaking to Crystal Palace’s official matchday programme, the Turkish forward explained how he is ‘so happy to join this family‘ referring to the club’s feel and how they have welcomed him – prompting some Everton supporters to become divided over his comments.

Tosun, who has surprisingly completed 100% of his attempted dribbles so far this campaign (as per SofaScore), remained a fringe player during the first half of this season for his parent club – scoring one goal in just five league appearances (WhoScored.com). Meanwhile, on his first start for Palace last Saturday, he gave them a surprise lead at the Etihad Stadium – perhaps indicating his consistency when you give him the chance to perform.

When compared to fellow Eagles first-choice striker Jordan Ayew, Tosun and the Ghanaian are level in terms of stats – with the loanee forward averaging 1.5 shots per game and registering a similar amount of goals and assists as Ayew this season during his most active campaign for the Toffees back in 2018/2019.

However, given Tosun’s lack of cameos on Merseyside recent months, supporters arguably rarely got to witness the striker’s full capability – responding to his comments surrounding life at Palace on Twitter. Find all of their best comments down below.
