Everton are reportedly interested in signing Anthony Elanga on loan from Manchester United.

The Lowdown: Maupay 'close'

Taking to Twitter on Thursday night, reliable journalist Alan Myers revealed that Neal Maupay is 'close' to joining the Goodison Park outfit from Brighton and Hove Albion.

Sky Sports reporter Di Marzio then revealed on Friday morning the player is already on Merseyside for a medical with the Toffees, seemingly edging closer to a four-year deal.

With a new striker seemingly through the door, it means that they can now concentrate on strengthening other areas of the pitch before the transfer window closes.

The Latest: Elanga interest

As per The Daily Mail, Frank Lampard's team also hold 'interest' in Elanga, who could be allowed to leave Old Trafford on loan if they sign winger Antony from Ajax.

The Blues also 'like' United's James Garner, although he is 'wanted' by Southampton as well.

The Verdict: Unlikely

It seems unlikely that the Red Devils would allow Elanga to go out on loan, even if they signed Antony.

The Sweden international comes off the back of an impressive performance in their 2-1 win over bitter rivals Liverpool, where he hit the post and registered an assist.

In pre-season, he impressed new manager Erik ten Hag, and even almost broke the world box jump record, which is designed to test a player's explosive power.

Nonetheless, if the Toffees can get both the supremely athletic Elanga and Maupay over the line, then it would certainly help cover for the absence of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who is currently out injured.
