Everton: Toffees still eyeing Guido Rodriguez

Everton: Toffees still eyeing Guido Rodriguez -Everton News

Everton are reportedly still eyeing up a move for Real Betis defensive midfielder Guido Rodriguez.

The Lowdown: Approach made

It was reported on Monday night that the Goodison Park outfit had made an approach to sign Rodriguez, but no offer has been made to Betis.

Nonetheless, after the capture of winger Dwight McNeil from Burnley, Kevin Thelwell and co. can now focus on strengthening in other areas of the pitch, and it seems Rodriguez is becoming a serious target to reinforce the midfield.

The Latest: Betis stance

As per Marca (via Sport Witness), the Merseyside club are still thinking about signing Rodriguez after making an approach, but he would prefer not to leave Betis.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini also wants to keep hold of him, but Betis need to sell, and so a transfer has not been ruled out for the right price.

Everton fans! Do you remember who scored your first league goal of the 21/22 season?

The Verdict: Get it done

Frank Lampard’s team could do with a presence in the middle of the park, and Rodriguez would certainly make them more solid.

Hailed as a ‘top-class’ and ‘brilliant’ midfielder by former Toffees striker Kevin Campbell, the Argentina international’s 6.92 average WhoScored rating in La Liga was only matched amongst Blues by Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison in the Premier League last season, with the latter having now moved on to Tottenham Hotspur.

Rodriguez also recorded more tackles (three) per game than any other Everton player, and so the 28-year-old would certainly be a handy signing should they manage to pull it off.
