Everton have reportedly now been gifted a boost in their pursuit of Cameron Carter-Vickers in the summer.

The Lowdown: Great season

Carter-Vickers is having nothing short of a great season at Celtic on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.

He ranks as their fifth-best player in the Scottish Premiership this season, having picked up four man-of-the-match awards, and ranks highly among his teammates in terms of average interceptions, clearances, blocks, passes and long balls per game (WhoScored).

Former SPFL right-back Alan Hutton has recently described the six-foot-one colossus as a 'man-mountain', which is testament to how big at the back he has been for them, as they chase down another title.

The Latest: Everton monitoring

As per 90min, the Goodison Park faithful are just one of a number of clubs that are currently 'monitoring' the situation of Carter-Vickers, along with West Ham United, Crystal Palace, Wolves, Southampton and Fulham.

The Hoops have an option to buy him this summer, but sources have indicated that a permanent move north of the border is now 'far from certain', gifting a boost to the chasing pack.

The Verdict: Boost

Given that Spurs are 'open' to selling Carter-Vickers in the summer and he only has a year left on his contract, he could come at a cheap price, which the Toffees should look to take advantage of, especially given that it is not certain that he will return to Parkhead.

Their defence has simply not been good enough this season, and has ultimately left them in the relegation zone with just a few games left to play.

Carter-Vickers could be the dominating centre-back that they are looking for, and given the intense competition for his signature, the Blues should look to sign him up as soon as possible.
