Everton are reportedly now expected to make a bid in the 'last hours' to sign Villarreal attacker Samuel Chukwueze.

The Lowdown: Talks held

It was reported on Wednesday that the Goodison Park outfit were in talks to sign the 23-year-old in a loan deal with an obligation to purchase for between £34.3m and £42.9m.

With just a few hours of the transfer window remaining, they will need to accelerate those talks to have any chance of snapping him up before the 11pm deadline.

The Latest: Bid expected

As per Spanish news outlet AS (via Sport Witness), Villarreal now 'expect an offer' from Everton for Chukwueze, which would be expected in the 'last hours of the market'.

He has a release clause of €80m (£69m), but the La Liga club would be open to selling him for a 'good offer'.

The Verdict: Get it done

Frank Lampard's team simply cannot afford to go in with a lowball offer for Chukwueze should they act on previous talks with only a few hours left of the window remaining.

Hailed by ESPN journalist David Cartlidge as a ‘ridiculous’ player who ‘tortures’ defenders, the Nigeria international has even been likened to the legendary Arjen Robben for his ability to dribble at speed and cut in on his left foot.

He also boasts a decent record in terms of contributing in the final third, with 25 goals and 22 assists in 162 appearances for Villarreal.

This would be such an exciting signing for Everton and their supporters should they be able to get this over the line.
