Everton are reportedly now showing an 'interest' in signing Maxwel Cornet this summer.

The Lowdown: Burnley relegated

Unfortunately for Cornet, Burnley found themselves relegated on the final day of the Premier League season with a 2-1 loss at home to Newcastle United, as Leeds United in turn won 2-1 away at Brentford.

The winger scored the Clarets' goal that game, in what was his top scorer.

The Latest: Everton 'interest'

Taking to Twitter, reliable journalist Mike McGrath has revealed that the Goodison Park faithful, as well as West Ham United, are now showing an 'early interest' in Cornet.

Expanding in his article for The Daily Telegraph, McGrath added that the Ivory Coast international has a £17.5m relegation clause.

The Verdict: Sign

Cornet has already proven himself in the top flight, and in today's market, £17.5m is not a bad price at all for the 25-year-old.

Toffees podcaster Lee McClean claims that he 'instantly improves' the team, and that is certainly true in terms of goal output, with only Richarlison scoring more over the course of the campaign.

Nonetheless, on £44,000-per-week at Turf Moor, he is unlikely to break their wage structure, and so could be a shrewd buy for the Blues should they be able to get a deal over the line.
