Cenk Tosun was offered to Besiktas, Fenerbahche and Galatasary but the Everton star’s wages were an issue, per Fotospor.
As per the outlet, the Goodison Park faithful offered those clubs the Turkey international on loan for the rest of the 2020/21 term.
Should Everton sell Tosun?
However, with Besiktas reportedly only having €2 million to spend, this gave them an issue, as Tosun earns €3.6 million per year at the Merseyside club, which is the equivalent of around £3.3 million per year.
It also annoyed the Turkish team that both Fenerbahche and Galatasary were also offered the 29-year old, and so a move never materialised.
Tosun has scored lots of goals in his career
Indeed, Tosun has scored plenty of his goals in his footballing career so far, with a total of 135 combined senior strikes at club level and for his country (Transfermarkt).
The Toffees decided to fork out £20.25 million for the striker in January 2018 off the back of him scoring a rather impressive 14 times in 24 games in all competitions for Besiktas in the 2017/18 term (Transfermarkt).
It has not really worked out for Tosun at Everton
However, despite the promise to score goals off the back of his price tag, it has not really worked out for Tosun at Everton.
The forward only has a one-in-five goal ratio for the Toffees, scoring 10 goals in 51 matches in all competitions so far (Transfermarkt), and so perhaps a move away from the Blues would suit all parties involved as the forward looks to get his career back on track.
