Everton manager Frank Lampard may be a target for England if Gareth Southgate leaves his post, according to The Telegraph.Â
The lowdown
Lampard took over as Everton boss at the end of January, more than a year after he was sacked by Chelsea.
He’s under contract at Goodison Park until the summer of 2024, so any suitors between now and then may well have to pay Everton a hefty sum.

The Telegraph’s report (via Goodison News) states that Southgate may decide to take a break after the upcoming World Cup in Qatar, which will be his third major tournament.
England had hoped to appoint Graham Potter as his successor, but his move from Brighton to Chelsea is expected to close that door.
And now they may look to Lampard or Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard instead.
The verdict
It remains to be seen whether Lampard would be interested in the vacancy, because the difference between Premier League and international management is huge.
One involves a game every weekend, sometimes every three days, while there can be weeks, even months between international fixtures and the chances to work with your players come few and far between.

But it would surely be a blow to lose Lampard, who managed to keep the Toffees in the division last year with a run of 14 points in their final nine matches.
They’ve made a decent start to this season too, climbing to 13th in the table behind impressive defensive solidity after extending their unbeaten run to five games with a 1-0 victory over West Ham.
The Blues have only conceded six goals, the joint-second best defensive record in the division.
