Several Everton supporters are drowning their sorrows in the Transfer Tavern following a disappointing weekend for their side in the Premier League.
Ronald Koeman’s men returned to league action with a poor 3-0 defeat at home to Tottenham on Saturday, with a Harry Kane brace and a Christian Eriksen strike condemning the Toffees to back-to-back defeats.
However, some optimism may be restored among those Everton fans in the Tavern following a recent report from Sunday’s print edition of the Sunday People (via HITC), which reports that the Toffees are heading the pursuit of Sheffield United’s David Brooks.
The midfielder moved to Bramall Lane back in 2014 having embarked upon his youth career at Manchester City, and he has since gone on to make ten first team appearances for the Blades, six of which have come under Chris Wilder this time round.
In fact, the 20-year-old grabbed an assist in their 2-1 win at Sunderland on Saturday to further underline his immense progression, and it’s progression which has reportedly attracted the interest of Koeman and Everton.
The Toffees were reportedly interested in Brooks during the summer but no deal materialised, yet it appears that the Merseyside giants will continue to monitor the midfielder’s progress over the coming months ahead of a possible move.

The likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Tom Davies, and Mason Holgate all earned regular appearances last season, and have played occasionally this time round as well, so it’s not overly surprising to see the Toffees linked with a move for Sheffield United’s David Brooks.
The highly-rated midfielder is slowly but surely becoming a prominent member of Chris Wilder’s squad at Bramall Lane, and further performances like Sunday’s, where he bagged an assist in their win over Sunderland, is only going to continue raising his stock even further.
