According to a report from Football Insider, Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti is a ‘big admirer‘ of potential Everton target Ronaldo Vieira, resulting in the club enquiring over the possibility of signing the player who is available for a £14 million fee – with these Toffees supporters praying the rumour for a ‘Gana replacement‘ is true.
Vieira, who emerged from the Leeds United academy and featured 71 times at Elland Road before a £6.2 million move to Sampdoria in 2018, has reportedly impressed manager Ancelotti – with the Italian apparently interested in acquiring more midfield depth. The Toffees had been linked with Inter Milan midfielder Matias Vecino for most of the window, but a report from Sky Italia via the Daily Star has confirmed that the Uruguayan looks set to stay at the San Siro.
Taking that into account, Everton have now been linked with Vieira as a potential alternative. The Brazilian averages a higher pass success rate (82.8%) than Vecino (75.9%) whilst making more clearances per game in Serie A (1.4), as per WhoScored.com. Compared to current Toffees midfield man Tom Davies, Vieira is still king when it comes to passing, with the Englishman mustering a lesser 77.2% accuracy – but he does reign superior with interceptions, making 1.4 per game on average.
As well as potentially being a decent addition, one Everton fan pointed out the possibility of Vieira becoming a ‘bit of a Gana replacement‘, referring to former player Idrissa Gana Gueye. The Senegalese midfielder, who left Merseyside for Paris Saint-Germain last summer, managed to make an impressive 4.3 tackles and 2.2 interceptions per game at Goodison Park in his final season – with Vieira potentially having a long way to go if he wants to live up to those numbers. Regardless, lots of supporters are excited over the possibility of potentially swooping for the 21-year-old. Find all of their best comments down below.
Good deal at that price if true. Certainly better value than Vecino.

Good player. Strong center midfielder. Doesn’t score a lot of goals but has everything he needs to be physical CM in Prem
