The Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to the news that Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero turned up to Manchester City’s U7 and U8 academy training sessions. The Argentine national team have been training at Manchester City’s training ground as they prepare for a friendly fixture against Italy at the Etihad tonight.
The Citizens propping our bar up were delighted to see Messi and Aguero visiting their club’s academy sides and many of them have been hinting that it could be a sign that Messi is on his way to Manchester in the near future. Whilst it’s unlikely that the world’s greatest ever player could be on his way to link up national teammate Aguero and former boss Pep Guardiola, it hasn’t stopped the City fans from getting excited.
In reality, the Argentine national side has been preparing for the World Cup as they face friendly fixtures against Italy in Spain tonight and Tuesday. The friendly fixtures are last-minute World Cup preparations for Jorge Sampaoli’s side. Argentina face a World Group group consisting of Croatia, Nigeria and World Cup first-timers Iceland, as La Albiceleste aim to go one better than the 2014 competition where they were beaten finalists.
