The Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping their club will show plenty of ambition in the transfer market this summer, but recent reports have given them reason to believe Daniel Levy will continue to operate with a business brain rather than a footballing one.
The resident Lilywhites propping up our bar are feeling excited ahead of their club’s move into the new stadium this year, and they are hoping a handful of new faces will grace the hallowed turf during their debut season at the new White Hart Lane.
With Toby Alderweirled widely-tipped to depart Tottenham this summer, Mauricio Pochettino will need to secure the services of a replacement in order to add depth to his defensive options.
According to reports from ESPN, Tottenham have joined West Ham United and Leicester City in the race for West Bromwich Albion’s Ahmed Hegazi, much to the dismay of the Spurs fans on Twitter.
To put it mildly, the supporters are absolutely incensed by recent reports and they are desperately hoping that there is little truth in the story.
Considering Tottenham are a club who have been on the cusp of claiming silverware for the past three seasons, it’s easy to understand why the supporters have reacted with such fury, especially with Alderweireld’s departure looming on the horizon.
Hegazi was an ever-present during West Bromwich Albion’s 2017/18 season which saw the Baggies relegated to the Championship, but in fairness to the World Cup bound Egypt international, his performances represented something of a bright spark for a club whose crippling problems were in attack rather than defence.
