The Leeds fans in the Transfer Tavern are delighted to see the news that youngster, Tom Pearce has signed an extension with the club, keeping him at Elland Road until 2022. The young full-back was given a chance at the back end of this season and made good on it with Paul Heckingbottom’s faith being repaid by the performances turned in by the 20-year-old.

Leeds United have a rich history of making Premier League stars from their academy. Currently, the likes of James Milner, Danny Rose and Lewis Cook are succeeding in England’s top flight having came through at Elland Road, and Tom Pearce could well be following in their footsteps after his impressive emergence has seen a number of clubs looking at the left-back.
The Whites will need to get the balance right between youth and experience if they are to go up any time soon and the way that Pearce has been playing means that he will most likely keep his place on the left-hand side of the clubs defence. If the Yorkshire club can add Kyle Bartley to their defence alongside Pontus Jansson and Pearce then they’ll have a backline worthy of winning the Championship.
