The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that Mauricio Pochettino will finally win the big one next season. The Lilywhites have been amongst the best sides in England over the last few years, but they’re yet to take it to the next level.
However, they’re set to move to a new stadium next season, and things are clearly going up a few notches behind the scenes.
Clearly, then, a few major signings would help improve their chances of progressing. Their side is full of talent, and it’s tough to see who could be replaced. One player that has garnered some criticism over the last year or so, though, is Dele Alli. He’s clearly one of Europe’s most exciting players, but it’s fair to say that his form has been inconsistent – particularly at the start of last season.
Bringing in a new creative master to take over the reigns at Spurs, then, makes sense, and our landlord thinks that Lazio man Luis Albero would be a fantastic fit.
Alberto will be familiar to English football fans following a spell at Liverpool, where he was underwhelming. However, since departing Anfield, his career has taken a real upturn.
In particular, since moving to Lazio – and over the last year specifically – he has been absolutely sensational.
He’s a regular for the Italian side, offering an incredibly creative force through the middle of their attack – serving primarily as a number ten-style midfielder.
His stats speak for themselves, having picked up 11 goals and 14 assists last term. He’s been the focal point of the team, and he looks more than ready to make the step up.
Of course, Tottenham won’t want – and nor should they – to sell Dele Alli, but Alberto has had a better season than him, and so if Pochettino wants more variety going forward, he’d be a fantastic choice.
