They’ve powered through and done well, but his return couldn’t have come at a better time. It’s been a tough few weeks for Spurs, with Mauricio Pochettino’s men now without a win in three league games.
His return has been a big talking point in the Transfer Tavern over the last few days, with several fans touting him as the man to turn around Tottenham’s season. This is something that most of the Spurs faithful seem to agree with, at least according to a recent poll ran by our landlord.
He recently asked the question of whether Lamela is the missing link in this Tottenham team, with his return likely to allow them to flourish once more, and a whopping 83% of fans responded with a resounding yes, with the Argentine clearly generating a lot of support amongst his fans.
Given how good Harry Kane and Dele Alli have been in recent months, that’s certainly a surprise, but that just goes to show highly-rated he is in Tottenham circles.
After assisting Harry Kane earlier this week to mark his comeback, you certainly can’t put it past him to go on and make a real impact over the coming weeks. Another good performance or two from the bench could see him thrust into the starting eleven once more, and the world will be his oyster from then on.
