Forget Lawro – Here’s Today’s Predictions!

Bar one of today’s fixtures fall neatly into the category of ‘potential banana skin’. Birmingham, as we speak are looking to come away from their encounter with West Brom unscathed. Their sensational besting of The Arsenal in tact.

Arsenal vs Sunderland

This will probably be high scoring. Why? Arsenal still have a lot of saying sorry to do to their support and if Sunderland’s run of away form was any worse they would be asked to change their trading name to Blackpool, or Stoke, or West Brom. Prediction 3-0 and take Nasri & Bendtner Anytime Goalscorer prices in your stride.

Bolton vs Aston Villa

This is potentially an interesting fixture. I’m only hesitant because of seemingly decades of relatively abysmal football having been served up, on and off, by these two. But Bolton are good at home and Villa, whilst not exactly ‘free-scoring’ are certainly 25 times more interesting to watch these days. Prediction 2-1 but a ton of attempts, weeping wailing and gnashing of teeth. Penalty from Bent, anyone?

Newcastle vs Everton

Here are two sides battered by life’s hard path. It points win prizes but it would be a wise man (or woman) to predict who’ll be leaving with the deluxe teasmaid and who’ll be clutching a Blankety Blank cheque book and pen. I think this will be genuine war of attrition and the spoils shared. You may struggle to watch a longer 90 minutes this season.

Manchester City vs Wigan

Unlikely to be a collector’s item. Wigan I fully expect to do a good impression of a wounded animal, striking out as the death throes kick in. City have won four out of their last six home games and it’s been about a month since Wigan snatched all three points on the road. Prediction: Possibly a score of air hockey proportions to Bobby Manc’s Billion Dollar Babies.

Well now, when it comes to football, one man has for many years been the most noticeable, the most controversial, and occasionally the most successful blogger this country has ever produced. His pithy words and abrasive style make him as famous off the pitch as he is on it. This man is Escapini. "I love football. Football she's a cruel mistress. She's, she's more than a mistress. She's a wife, she's a mother, she's a daughter, she's an errant child. She's a… she's a… she can make you laugh, she make you cry. She can bring tears me eyes. She can bring blood to me shoulders. She can bring a kettle to the boil." "Cause football is about nothing, unless it's about something and what it is about, is football."
