Everton: Daichi Kamada would be an ‘exciting’ signing

Eintracht Frankfurt's Daichi Kamada celebrates scoring

Journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that reported January transfer target Daichi Kamada would be an ‘exciting’ signing for Everton.

The Lowdown: Everton interest

It was reported earlier this month that the Goodison Park outfit have ‘knocked’ on the door of Eintracht Frankfurt over a potential deal for Kamada in the January transfer window, alongside both Villarreal and Benfica.

His contract at the Bundesliga side expires in the summer, meaning that he can leave as a free agent, or sign for another club for a cut-price in January.

The Latest: Be an ‘exciting’ signing

Speaking to The Transfer Tavern, O’Rourke has claimed that Kamada would be an ‘exciting’ signing for the Merseyside club, highlighting his impressive performances in Europe over the last two seasons:

“It’d be an exciting signing if Everton were able to sign Kamada. I think we saw how good a player he was for Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League last season when they went on to win that and also in the Champions League this season where he’s helped them progress to the last 16 as well.”

Everton news!

The Verdict: No-brainer

Signing Kamada for a cut-price in January is surely a no-brainer for Frank Lampard’s side.

As O’Rourke alludes to, his performances in Europe have been excellent, as he scored five goals and made one assist in the 13 games on the way to helping Frankfurt win the UEFA Europa League last term, while he also scored three times in their last three matches in this campaign’s Champions League group stages, again helping them qualify for the knockout stages.

Kamada’s playing style is similar to other attacking midfielders currently playing in the Premier League, including Philippe Coutinho, Mason Mount and Miguel Almiron, with the latter picking up October’s Player of the Month (POTM).

With him named in the Japan squad for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, all eyes from Toffees supporters should be on Kamada, as he could be a fine addition should they manage to get a deal done in January.
