Arsenal: Journalists buzzing over Gabriel Jesus injury update

Arsenal's Gabriel Jesus in action

Journalists Charles Watts and Steve Kay have been left buzzing over Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus’ injury update of him being back in training.

The Lowdown: Jesus pushing

Mikel Arteta said in an update last week that Jesus was ‘pushing the boundaries’ in terms of his fitness, and that his knee is ‘not reacting’, which is ‘really positive’.

The Brazil international has been ruled out with a knee injury since the break for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, and will be hoping to get back on the pitch soon in order to help Arsenal’s Premier League title charge.

The Latest: In training

Taking to Twitter, Arsenal reporter for GOAL Watts said that it was ‘great to see’ Jesus back in training after the 25-year-old posted an image on his Twitter page:

“Great to see, this. Hopefully not too long until he can join in full training now.”

Freelance journalist Kay was also buzzing as Jesus posted a similar update on his Instagram story, saying ‘what a sight for sore eyes’.

The Verdict: Big boost

Although the clash at home to Everton in the Premier League tonight will come too soon for Jesus, it is certainly a big boost to see him back in training.

He has simply been a revelation since signing from Manchester City in the summer, ranking as the Gunners’ best performer in the top flight with five goals and five assists before his injury (WhoScored).

Jesus has also averaged more shots and dribbles per game than any of his team-mates, and was a key player in helping them stay at the top of the table earlier in the season.

Nonetheless, Arteta will be hoping that his recovery continues to go smoothly, and with more training under his belt, he could make a matchday squad very soon.
