Glasgow Rangers: Fans react to Steven Gerrard’s comments on potential signings

Plenty of Glasgow Rangers fans have been reacting to comments made by Steven Gerrard regarding the possibility of new signings at Ibrox in the near future.

The Athletic‘s Jordan Campbell tweeted quotes from the manager (via @JordanC1107) from this morning’s press conference in which he said that the squad still needs improvement but hinted that there could be a new face at the club “in the next few days”.

So far this summer, the ‘Gers have picked up Calvin Bassey, Jon McLaughlin and Leon Balogun on free transfers while also securing permanent deals for previously on-loan duo Jermain Defoe and Ianis Hagi. They have been strongly linked with a move for Amiens midfielder Bongani Zungu in recent days, with The Scottish Sun reporting that the Light Blues have agreed a £3.6m deal with the Ligue 1 club.

However, the ‘Gers released six players – including Andy Halliday and Jon Flanagan – back in May, while also selling Matt Polster to New England Revolution. Alfredo Morelos could follow them out the exit door soon, with Football Insider claiming that he is close to agreeing a £17m move to Lille.

Ahead of the new season, Gerrard’s squad still seems light in some areas – he has only one three natural full-backs, no bespoke right winger and just three centre-forwards (including the potentially exit-bound Morelos), as per TransferMarkt:
