Amidst a long line of contract renewals at Tottenham, one name that has been markedly absent is Erik Lamela.
Lamela, who joined Tottenham in 2013, had a slow start to life in the Premier League – but last season was somewhat of a breakout year for the talented attacker.
He has now become a key cog in the Tottenham machine, and the Spurs fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have been longing for an update with regards to his contract situation.
Whilst little news has emerged in recent weeks regarding his long-term future in London, Lamela has now come out to confirm that his future does indeed lie with Tottenham.
According to the Evening Standard, Lamela said: “It would make me happy to play for more years in this shirt”.
He added: “Will I be the next to sign? Let’s hope so”.
The signs certainly look positive for Lamela, and our landlord is touting him to be next in line.
Last season was a great one for the Argentine, picking up an impressive 5 goals and 9 assists in what was Tottenham’s best season in years.
He appears to have built quite the relationship with compatriot Mauricio Pochettino – and that has seemingly increased his confidence and improved his success in the Premier League.
