West Ham United struggled to come to terms with Premier League football under Manuel Pellegrini towards the start of the season, but things have certainly improved since then.
The Hammers will be desperate to work their way up the table and into a European place as the season progresses after spending a large amount of money during the summer.
However, things haven’t all been positive for the club in the past year or so, with problems off the field halting their progress at times and really causing them trouble. Indeed, David Gold and David Sullivan haven’t always made the best of decisions, with transfer and managerial problems resulting in a number of issues.
With that in mind, it’s obvious that Gold and Sullivan have made these TWO mistakes…
FAILURE TO SIGN A STRIKER
West Ham United failed to bring in a proven striker during the summer transfer window as they put all of their trust in the likes of Javier Hernandez, Andy Carroll, Lucas Perez and Marko Arnautovic.
However, the only man that has really stepped up to the plate in the current campaign is the Austrian, with Hernandez and Perez struggling for form and Carroll out on the sidelines due to an injury.
This definitely contributed towards their poor start to the campaign as they’d often find themselves in promising positions, but wouldn’t have the right man to finish the job.
DAVID MOYES APPOINTMENT
David Moyes was appointed as Slaven Bilic’s successor back in November of 2017, but this was arguably a bigger mistake as the club’s owners would later come under the spotlight.
The Scotsman only managed to produce a win percentage of 29.03, which was the worst since Gianfranco Zola departed back in 2010.
So, with the Hammers flirting with the possibility of relegation at times last season, the club’s owners can count themselves lucky as they could have easily dropped down into the Championship.
