Good news for Man Utd as Mourinho could be handed significant injury boost soon – report

The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that their side will impress in the Champions League this season. It’s been a few years since the Red Devils were genuinely competitive in Europe’s premier competition, but things are looking good for Jose Mourinho’s men at present.

They’re impressing in the Premier League, and they’ve been handed a positive draw for the round of 16 – with Sevilla the opponents for Mourinho this time around. Though far from an easy fixture, it could have been much worse for the club, and they’re now in a position where they have a good chance of progressing.

Fortunately, whilst the game is still around a month away, the Red Devils have received some good news with regards to the clash. According to the Times, Eric Bailly – who has had an injury fraught season so far – is hoping to be fit for the game – having made steady progress over the last few weeks.

He has reportedly already started running again, and it is said that the Man Utd medical team have been impressed with his swift return. They’re targeting the Sevilla game for a potential return as a result. 

This is a significant boost for Man Utd, as Bailly is a definite starter for Jose Mourinho when fit. He has adjusted to the Premier League very well, but he has struggled to remain consistent due to a lack of regular action owing to injury.

Jose Mourinho, though, will be hoping that he is past the worst of his problems – and a Champions League return will be perfectly timed for the Red Devils.

Man Utd are lacking defensive depth at present, and so Bailly’s return couldn’t come soon enough.

His return in Europe will be a particular boost, with Jose Mourinho likely desperate to succeed in the competition. Sevilla are a strong, attacking team, and so the Portuguese will need his best players to be available.
