The report concerns Toby Alderweireld, with the Belgian’s future seemingly coming under scrutiny. According to the report, the defender has stalled on the offer of a new deal, having already rejected two offers, with the player seemingly keen to ensure that a release clause is included in any forthcoming deal.
Indeed, it is a worrying notion for several reasons. On a basic level, Alderweireld is one of a few players yet to sign a new deal at White Hart Lane, and this is something that Daniel Levy needs to change as soon as possible.
Secondly, the fact that he is keen to see a release clause in his deal seems to hint that he doesn’t want to be tied down at White Hart Lane, leaving those in the pub fearing that he could look to leave the club in the future.
