The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern think that their side is very nearly the finished article…
After a transitional campaign last season, the Citizens look primed and ready for a big season this year – with Pep Guardiola building quite the side.
Big players like Sergio Aguero and David Silva have been retained, whilst the likes of Bernardo Silva and Benjamin Mendy have come in – bringing the perfect concoction of youth, experience and skill.
Fortunately for Guardiola, though, things could get even better – with a deal for 28-year-old Alexis Sanchez beginning to look increasingly likely. According to the Mirror, Sanchez has decided to snub Real Madrid interest in favour of moving to Man City – with the Citizens now said to be ‘super confident’ that they will be able to land him in January or next summer.
A move next summer would, of course, make financial sense – given that he would be available on a free, but an arrival in January could help to facilitate a sustained Premier League title challenge.
When he arrives isn’t the story, though. The real boost here is that, at last, a move is beginning to look inevitable – and what a move it would be. Man City’s attack is incredible already, and when you throw Sanchez into the mix, it begins to look unstoppable.
Landlord’s Verdict
The attack is probably the last area that Pep Guardiola needs to upgrade, but Sanchez isn’t the sort of player that you can turn down.
The Chilean is one of the Premier League’s best, and whilst a player may have to be sacrificed, there’s no doubting that the Chilean would make an impact.
