The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern have been doing everything they can to distance themselves from this rumour that’s surfaced on aspor.com claiming that the Lilywhites are interested in signing Croatia and Besiktas defender, Domagoj Vida.
[@AsporComTR] understands Tottenham Hotspur have moved ahead of Liverpool and bid €18million to Besiktas to secure the transfer of Domagoj Vida this summer.
However it’s believed Beşiktaş are now holding out for a fee of €30million for the Croatian #WorldCup star.#THFC #COYS pic.twitter.com/o4sQUAnXQh

Vida doesn’t look like he’d be that bad of a signing on paper. He’s had a strong World Cup campaign and looks to be at the peak of his powers at the age of 29. However, the Spurs fans in the Tavern are very against this transfer. The Croatian recently found himself in hot water after Croatia’s penalty shootout win on Saturday for spreading a political message on social media, although he received a warning instead of the two-game ban that he should have got.
If Vida had been hit with a two-game ban, he would have missed the semi-final against England and then either the final or the third-place play-off that would have followed. Unfortunately for England, FIFA went soft and gave Vida a warning. That in itself is a warning to Spurs fans as it would be a bad move to try and sign a defender who would consider doing something so stupid. Also, the fact that he signed for Besiktas on a free in January and has never been successful in Europe’s top leagues tells you everything you need to know about the Croatian.
You can read our local Lilywhites’ thoughts on Vida here:
Getting so totally bored by all this stupid transfer rumours. So far we are signing something like 700 players. Just give us a break from it please.

Every time someone scores in the World Cup there is a story after that we want to buy him

I mean really media? He scores one day and now we are in the race to buy him? It’s annoying

As you can see, the Spurs fans can’t wait for this rumour to be put to bed as none of them want to sign Domagoj Vida.
