Talksport have announced that Harry Redknapp is preparing a move for Audax Italiano defender, Bryan Carrasco.
Redknapp’s Tottenham have been thin on the ground when it comes to defenders this season, and the Spurs manager is keen to strengthen his squad before next season’s campaign. The Chilean under 20 international, who plays at right back, is high on Redknapp’s shopping list.
Talksport claim that with current Spur’s right-back Alan Hutton moving on in the summer, Redknapp could be tempted by Carrasco. Currently one of the stars of Chilean football, the youngster is apparently hot property at the moment. Talksport likened him to Dani Alves, which clearly shows the promise the young man possess.
Meanwhile, a former Tottenham legend is mouthing off about the future of a current Spurs hero. In an interview with today’s Daily Mirror, Glenn Hoddle (remember him?) has suggested that Gareth Bale would be the ideal acquisition for Catalonian giants Barcelona. After his PFA Player of the Year Award, Bale is amongst Europe’s elite and should he choose to move in summer he could have his pick of the continent’s best!
Hoddle told the press, ‘I would say he would suit Barcelona. The way Barcelona play with a left-back but don’t play them at left-back, they play with left or right wingers.’
I was talking it over with my good friend, and fellow writer, Joe T the other day and he felt that Bale had been solid, but little else this season. I’m going to have to agree with him at the moment. And yes, I’m anticipating a severe backlash in the comment box, but then that’s what it’s there for…
Hoddle did go on in the interview to say that he feels Spurs is still the best club for Bale at the moment, saying ‘I think he could move too early and Spurs is, for me, a perfect place for him for the next two seasons.” Spurs fans will be hoping that what Hoddle says is true, and they keep hold of the Welsh dynamo for the next season. I certainly don’t think he’s anywhere near his best. There is definitely a lot more to come from Bale.
As for Carrasco, he’s definitely one to watch out for as his infamous Internet clip HERE shows…
