Homegrown: The 1 English signing who could take West Ham to the next level

West Ham United fans here in the Tavern are hoping that Manuel Pellegrini can bring in a striker this summer. Indeed, the Hammers had to deal with Javier Hernandez’s inconsistencies last season, so they will be looking to find a suitable replacement in quick time.

Danny Welbeck would be the ideal striker for a team like West Ham United, as he seems to perform better when he is the focal point. And, having struggled to get into the starting lineup at the Emirates at times last season, perhaps the Hammers may be able to bring him to the London Stadium this summer.

The Englishman still managed to score 10 goals in the campaign just gone, so it’s clear to see that he can still provide that clinical touch in front of goal. But, after being named in the 23-man squad for the World Cup in Russia, the Gunners may want to keep hold of him if he performs to a high standard.

West Ham United’s current striker situation would be sorted if they manage to sign Welbeck this summer. The 27-year-old likes to use his pace to get in behind the opposition’s defenders and finds the back of the net more often than not when he gets into a goalscoring position. Many of our local residents are rather excited about the possibility of welcoming the Arsenal man to the club, as they won’t have to experience laziness up front any more.

Indeed, Manuel Pellegrini will have his sights set firmly on pushing for a European spot next season, so bringing Welbeck’s natural goalscoring talents to the London Stadium would definitely be a step in the right direction.
