David Moyes has endured a torrid start to his career as Sunderland manager, and the Mackems here in the Transfer Tavern are incredibly worried about the club’s state.
The Scotsman – formerly Everton, Manchester United and most recently Real Sociedad – are yet to win a league game this season, and sit plum bottom of the Premier League table with only two points and a poor goal difference of minus nine.
Those two points – which came in draws against Southampton and West Brom – will come as little consolation to Black Cats fans who were expecting the club to kick on after escaping relegation last season by the skin of their teeth once again, and investing in a number of players in the summer after the departure, and subsequent humiliation, of Sam Allardyce.
Moyes’ managerial career itself has gone into somewhat turmoil following his quasi-legendary spell at Everton, and poor spells at his next two clubs have only damaged his reputation.
The reputation looks to be being fulfilled once again at the Stadium of Light however, and it could be that Moyes is soon to find himself out of a job once again.

Francesco Guidolin
Guidolin can feel himself hard done by having been let go of Swansea very early into this season to make way more American Bob Bradley.
The Italian boss had had an hit-and-miss career at the Liberty, but towards the back end of last finally looked like had got his side playing as a team.
Given time this, I’m fairly certain Swansea’s fortunes would have turned, however it was not to be, and hence Guidolin is without a job.
Sunderland could come calling for a man with a point to prove.
Dieter Hecking
This may be a long shot, with Hecking having only recently been let go by Wolfsburg after failing to win this the opening day the season, but stranger things have happened.
Dick Advocaat was the surprise appointment of 2015 and managed to keep Sunderland in the league in dramatic fashion.
Could Dieter Hecking follow in the Dutchman’s footsteps?
Ryan Giggs
Heavily linked with the formerly vacant Swansea job, Giggs looked almost set to take his first role in the managerial sphere with the Swans but was beaten to the post by Bob Bradley instead.
If the Sunderland job is to become available, Giggs – who worked alongside Moyes out Manchester United – would be an ideal candidate and could be the figure to reinvigorate the dismal Black Cats.
Former team-mate Roy Keane did so with mixed success, so why couldn’t Giggs?
