The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern have been disappointed with their side’s form this season…
Despite spending big over the summer, it appears as though the sale of Romelu Lukaku has really hurt the side, with Ronald Koeman struggling to get the best out of a very hastily assembled team.
They currently sit in 14th place in the Premier League, far below expectations, and so unless results improve, somebody is going to have to pay the ultimate price.
Typically, the buck stops with the manager, and whilst the Everton brass won’t be thinking of moving Koeman on yet, it must be in the back of the minds of a few people in power.
As a result, it would make sense to begin considering who might be able to take over from the Dutchman if things do take a turn for the worse, and fortunately for the Toffees, there are a number of options from which to choose.
With that said, if Everton sack Koeman, these 3 are ideal replacements…
Frank De Boer
Frank De Boer struggled at Crystal Palace, but so has Roy Hodgson, and so that suggests that the problem wasn’t management, but instead a rather bigger problem with the club.
So, a better representation of his qualities would be visible by looking at his time at Ajax, and there he was a big success.
He produced an exciting brand of football, whilst he also competed in Europe’s biggest competitions. He’s a top manager, and he deserves another chance.
The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern would love his style of football, with quick passing and delicate play both featuring prominently, and he could be the perfect fit.
Thomas Tuchel
Thomas Tuchel is currently unemployed after leaving Borussia Dortmund, where he impressed.
After succeeding Jurgen Klopp, Tuchel led the German side fantastically for a while, seamlessly continuing the fine work that the current Liverpool boss had begun.
He’s a master tactician, and his style of play would work well with Everton’s current crop of talented players.
A move to Everton may make sense for him, too, with the club’s aspirations clearly to get into European competition.
David Moyes
Since David Moyes first left Everton, it’s been a mixed spell for the club.
At moments, it has seemed as though the manager had held them back, with his successor, Roberto Martinez, impressing during the early stages of his tenure.
However, since those highs, it has been a period of disappointing lows for the club. Despite spending big, no manager has been able to consistently get the best out of the team.
Likewise, Moyes has had a bad time of it since leaving the club, and he’s currently without a job after leaving Sunderland. His stock has never been lower, and he likely wouldn’t be a popular choice with fans, but he was fantastic during his last stint in Merseyside, and who is to say he won’t be able to do more of the same?
Still, it would be a risk, and so the Everton board won’t be jumping at this opportunity.
