The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to the knockout stages of the Champions League. The Lilywhites are on a decent run of form, and whilst Juventus won’t be easy to beat, Mauricio Pochettino’s men will likely be confident heading into the game.

The pressure will certainly be on the Spurs boss to get his preparation for the game correct. Of course, if Juventus are at their best, they’ll be difficult to cope with, but there are a few things that Pochettino can control – notably his tactics and his team selection.

In the case of the latter, the Lilywhites do have a few options in a number of positions. Sure, Hugo Lloris and Harry Kane are likely to start, as they should, but there is a bit of unpredictability available for Pochettino.

They managed to beat Arsenal over the weekend, but a different level of personnel could be needed this time around.

With that said, if Pochettino drops these 2 players, Tottenham will beat Juventus tonight – agreed?

 Kieran Trippier

Kieran Trippier has been solid for Tottenham this season. Though pretty average in the past, he appears to have upped his game under Pochettino this term, providing a decent option down the right-hand side of the defence.

However, his experience in Europe’s premier competition is limited, and so something else could be needed.

Serge Aurier has typically been Mauricio Pochettino’s option of choice in the Champions League so far this term, having already made 5 appearances in Europe, and that experience could come in handy.

He’s yet to make himself the undisputed starter on the right-hand side of the defence, but another strong showing in Europe from Aurier could get people talking.

 Eric Dier

Eric Dier has been inconsistent this season, and that could prove to be problematic for the Lilywhites. Mauricio Pochettino needs consistency in the middle of the park, especially against a team like Juventus.

The Italian giants are ruthless and unstoppable when they’re playing well, and so steel in the midfield is needed.

Someone like Victor Wanyama could provide just what Tottenham need. He’ll be fresh, given that he didn’t start against Arsenal, and his fresh legs – combined with his defensive quality – could help quell the Juventus attack.
