The Aaron Ramsey saga has been one of the most covered transfer stories in recent times but has come to end with the club finally announcing the player will leave at the end of the season (via Sky Sports).
Of course, with a player of his quality, there has been no shortage of suitors. German champions FC Bayern Munich are amongst the favourites to sign the player, alongside Liverpool who have been longstanding admirers of the player, according to Bleacher Report.
Wherever Ramsey ends up, he’ll be a major asset who will likely occupy a role in the starting lineup. This means someone somewhere will need to concede their place.
That said, here are two players that may see their time in a Liverpool shirt cut short if Aaron Ramsey arrives…
Harry Wilson
Welshman to replace Welshman – it would a shame if it happened, but it’s entirely possible.
The young midfielder has certainly been making a name for himself recently putting in a string of quality performances for both club and country.
Originally billed as a winger, Wilson has found himself operating in central midfield for Frank Lampard’s Derby County, where he’s currently on loan. You may recognise him from the videos of his wicked free-kicks, or just simply as one of the best young talents at Liverpool. Wherever it may be, you’ll know he’s got a bright future ahead of him.
But this future may not be at Anfield.
Liverpool’s starting wingers will take some budging if they’re to be usurped by Wilson, and the central midfield role, which is over saturated as it is, will be occupied by Ramsey should he arrive.
Ben Woodburn
Since making his breakthrough Woodburn hasn’t become the young star everyone had hoped.
He’s recently returned prematurely from a loan spell at Championship club Sheffield United where he had, to put it simply, a bit of a shocker.
Minimal opportunities in first-team has temporarily wrecked his development, and we’re sure he’ll be falling down the pecking order at Liverpool.
Yes, he’s young. But the club have a lot of talent currently out making a name for themselves at their respective loan locations. We live in a cutthroat time where second chances are few and far between, and Woodburn may have blown his in Sheffield.
The arrival of Ramsey certainly won’t help.
