In a game that was, arguably, a must-win victory for the Sky Blues, Pep Guardiola’s side seriously struggled to break through the Potters’ strong defence.
The problem exposed a problem within the Man City squad, and whilst the Citizens’ offence is often touted as the strong point, Wednesday night proved that it isn’t quite where it should be.
In fact, Man City’s problems could be worse than fans think – with OptaJoe stating that the 1 shot on target that Man City had on Wednesday’s night was the WORST in a home game that Guardiola has ever overseen.

Certainly, the Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern can’t wait for the return of Gabriel Jesus – though they could reportedly have to wait until next season.
Personnel-wise, there are a host of options for Guardiola – but he needs to ensure that he is utilising them correctly. With 10 points now between Man City and Chelsea – the hard work is yet to come.
