The West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern are pleased with the news today that their club has appointed Mario Husillos as their new director of football. The 59-year-old worked with Manuel Pellegrini at Malaga in the 2012/13 season, where the club reached the Champions League quarter-finals. The news that Pellegrini will be working with his former director of football is positive for the Hammers. Husillos and Pellegrini have a rich history of working together and they will be aiming to keep the club in the Premier League next season with a midtable finish. The club struggled last season under David Moyes and Slaven Bilic, leaving it until there were only two games remaining before securing Premier League survival.
The Hammers will be looking to be proactive in the transfer market, with the club linked to the likes of William Carvalho and Felipe Anderson and having already signed Ryan Fredericks, this summer looks like being a strong and successful one for the Stratford club. If the Hammers can kick on from here and succeed under Pellegrini and Husillos then the fans will be delighted.
