It has not been a pleasant season for the West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern…

After moving to the London Stadium, the West Ham faithful were optimistic that exciting things were to come. A new stadium can often bring reinvigorated determination to a club – and some were even touting the Hammers for a European finish come the end of the season.

However, the Slaven Bilic-led side really struggled as the season got underway, and whilst they have picked up their form in recent weeks – the West Ham fans in attendance are still looking pretty glum.

13th place is not a very positive place to be for the Hammers, and so our landlord thinks that a few new signings are needed – and fast.

Bilic may have put off a relegation fight for now, but if he doesn’t improve his side this month then they could once again slip down the table.

With that said, it’s time for Bilic to complete deals for these 2 this week for West Ham

 Shane Long

Shane Long hasn’t been in the best vein of form for Southampton this season, but there is no doubting that he would be a stellar signing for the Hammers should he become available.

According to the Daily Mail, West Ham are reportedly keen on the attacker – meaning this deal could actually have some weight.

Long has struggled domestically this season, but much of this could be down to the style of play that Southampton have at present, not to mention the poor run of form the side has been going through.

He hasn’t been a regular starter this season, and so a move away could be tempting for the Irish attacker.

 Jermain Defoe

Jermain Defoe is, arguably, one of the Premier League’s best ever goalscorers – given the fact that he has consistency scored goals regardless of the level at which he is playing.

This has continued into his current spell with Sunderland, with the English veteran impressing even when his side is not.

Sunderland are one of the favourites in the Tavern to go down this season, and so Jermain Defoe could look to get out early – and a move to West Ham could prove tempting for the ex-Hammer.

He will, undoubtedly, score goals for Bilic – though the main issue will be convincing the Black Cats to part with their star striker.
