It’s not been the easiest of starts for Everton in the Premier League this campaign and their fans here in the Transfer Tavern are wanting to see a little improvement after the New Year!
In what has been one of the most hotly contested Premier League campaigns we’ve seen in years, the Toffees have struggled to maintain a steady level of consistency and they’ll need to improve in 2017 if they’re to push for the European places.
But with a whole wealth of quality in his squad, the feeling here by the bar is that Ronald Koeman has every chance of getting the best out of his players – the supporters just need to be patient.
However, there are plenty of fans both on the terraces and here in the Transfer Tavern that feel a couple of new additions this January really wouldn’t go amiss, especially to replace some individuals that really haven’t been performing this campaign.
So with that in mind, here’s 3 transfer targets Everton should buy this January…
Jay Rodriguez

He’s been on the outskirts of the Southampton side for a couple of years now thanks to a barrage of injuries and poor form but there has never been any question as to the quality Jay Rodriguez has in his locker.
He’s one of the only remaining original Saints around from the squad that used to contain the likes of Luke Shaw but now he’s back to full fitness he’s looking like he could be an important player for Claude Puel’s side.
But, with Romelu Lukaku really not reaching the same heights as we’re used to seeing for Everton, bringing in the Englishman as a striking option might not be a bad idea in the slightest.
Timothee Kolodziejczak
If there has been one thing that has really shocked our Everton contingent here in the pub this season, it’s been the poor form shown by captain Phil Jagielka.
He’s been pretty poor on a handful of occasions and for Toffees fans and that’s a big worry. But, as with any club at any level, if changes need to be made, they need to be made and we’ve identified Sevilla defender Timothee Kolodziejczak as a potential replacement in at centre-half.
The Frenchman has struggled to break into the senior side on occasions this season but we think he’d make a good replacement over at Everton.
Morgan Schneiderlin

He’s been hotly linked with a transfer to Goodison Park for a couple of weeks now and Morgan Scheniderlin is just the player who would give Everton a real boost of quality in the middle-of-the-park.
He’s struggled for game time at United over the past couple of seasons and since his big-money move away from Southampton, things just haven’t worked out quite as well as expected.
But a fresh start at Goodison might be what the Frenchman needs in order to get back to his best and in-turn, give Everton a better chance of finishing higher up the table.
