A few of the Tottenham fans leaning by the bar in the Transfer Tavern have spent the last few days discussing what business the Lilywhites might conduct over the next few weeks…

After all, the season so far hasn’t been too kind to Tottenham, with the Mauricio Pochettino-led side currently in third place in the Premier League, having already been knocked out of the Champions League.

After such a stellar campaign last year, in which Tottenham nearly pipped Leicester City to the title, many in the Transfer Tavern were expecting the side to kick on again this season.

A Premier League title challenge was, at the very least, expected – but a few poor results towards the end of the calendar year has really marred their hopes.

Now, the Tottenham fans in attendance are just hoping that a top 4 finish can happen, but even they think that Pochettino has a lot of work to do to make that happen.

With the English transfer window now open once again, our landlord thinks that Pochettino needs to get a decent amount of business done as he looks to rebuild his side – and he needs to begin that process with a couple of departures.

With that said, it’s time for Pochettino to get rid of these 2 Spurs players this week…

Ben Davies

Ben Davies has seemingly been around for years, but he has, as of yet, failed to make a breakthrough into the Tottenham first team on a regular basis.

He has been used sparingly by Pochettino this season, with Tottenham’s stellar defence proving impossible to break into for the young Welsh defender.

With Danny Rose ahead of him, the likelihood of Davies ever making the breakthrough is looking increasingly unlikely – and a departure makes a lot of sense at this point.

Spurs could certainly get a decent price for the youngster, considering his homegrown status, and they could use that to reinvest in more important areas.

Josh Onomah

Joshua Onomah is not a player that should be sold, but rather Mauricio Pochettino could look at loaning out the youngster as he continues his progression.

He has yet to make a Premier League start as of yet, and considering the breadth of options in his position – a loan deal certainly makes sense.

Onomah has proven his worth in the role, but now is the time for him to go away for a few months as he looks to embed himself into the first team next season.

With the pressure on Pochettino, he will undoubtedly look to more senior players for guaranteed results.
