The West Ham fans want to see a bit of a clear out at the London Stadium this summer…

The Hammers have been seriously struggling in the Premier League, and in truth – nobody in the famous claret and blue has covered themselves in glory.

Even Dimitri Payet, who was arguably one of the players of the season last year, has struggled – leaving many in the Transfer Tavern to question what the problem might be at the London Stadium.

Slaven Bilic certainly has a lot of work to do to turn his faltering side around, and with the transfer window now open once again – a personnel rebuild has to be at the top of his list.

Most people tend to focus on who might be coming in, but our landlord thinks that departures could be a priority this January – and the deals need to start happening sooner, rather than later.

It must be made clear that West Ham’s squad isn’t exactly filled with quality options, and so players should only be moved on if Bilic can find worthy replacements – but if he wants to improve the fortunes of his side, he must ensure a few new big names are brought in.

With that said, it’s time for Bilic to get rid of these 2 West Ham players this week…

Alvaro Arbeloa

When Alvaro Arbeloa joined West Ham over the summer, the large majority of the Hammers in the Tavern were pretty excited.

He is a world-renowned player, and has won everything there is to win in the game – but this year, it just hasn’t happened.

The Spaniard hasn’t had the desired impact at the London Stadium this year, and at 33-years-old, he was brought in to make an immediate impact.

It would make much more sense to move the veteran on in favour of an emerging young talent, as if Bilic wants to secure the future as well as the present; Arbeloa isn’t going to cut it.

Ashley Fletcher

Ashley Fletcher isn’t a player that should be sold permanently, but in the short-term, it would make more sense for him to leave West Ham.

With a number of forwards ahead of him, and Jermain Defoe being heavily linked with a return to West Ham – his chances of finding regular football as the season progresses are only going to increase.

He is young, and considering the pressure vacuum currently overtaking Slaven Bilic – the environment for Fletcher to develop just isn’t right.

A loan move until the end of the season makes a lot of sense.
