West Brom have enjoyed a mixed start to the season so far…
Though they are currently languishing near the bottom of the table, the Baggies in the Football Transfer Tavern are feeling optimistic.
Granted, none of them are expecting a top-half finish this season – but they are very confident that Tony Pulis will keep them in the Premier League.
Nonetheless, our landlord thinks that Pulis has a lot of work to do before his side is where he will want it; and much his work needs to go into clearing out the dead weight at the club.
There are a host of players at West Brom that, for a plethora of reasons, need to be moved on; and Pulis needs to act in January.
With that said, it’s time for Pulis to wield his axe on these THREE West Brom players…
Saido Berahino
This is going to be a controversial one, as Berahino is arguably West Brom’s most talented player – but it just isn’t working out for him under Pulis.
A couple of years ago he was one of the Premier League’s golden boys after exploding onto the scene – but that seems like a long time ago now.
He has barely featured this season after Pulis criticised his fitness; and that is just the latest in a long line of controversies for the talented youngster.
His sale would benefit both Berahino and the club – and it just makes sense.
Rickie Lambert
Rickie Lambert’s career over the last few years has been very disappointing, especially considering how deadly he was at Southampton.
A move to Liverpool didn’t work out, so West Brom seemed like the perfect place to rebuild his career – but it just hasn’t happened.
He has never been able to gain much of a foothold in the West Brom first team, and at 34-years-old – his career coming to an end.
It is a disappointing fall from grace, but Pulis has little choice.
James Morrison
James Morrison has fallen behind in the pecking order at the Hawthorns, and that has been reflected by his lack of game time this season.
He has been a long-standing servant of West Brom, but it seems clear that Pulis does not see him as a key part of his plans; and so a move away makes sense.
He is yet to start a game this season, and that just about sums up his significance at West Brom at the moment.
