Chelsea forward Joao Pedro has enjoyed a standout season at Stamford Bridge, finishing as the club’s top performer after scoring 20 goals and establishing himself as a key figure in attack.
Despite his impressive form, the 24-year-old has been dealt a major international setback after being left out of Brazil’s World Cup squad by Carlo Ancelotti, who instead opted for attacking names such as Endrick, Gabriel Martinelli and Neymar.
The decision reportedly came as a huge disappointment for Pedro and his family, who had gathered to watch the squad announcement.
The snub has now sparked fresh speculation over his long-term future in west London.
Joao Pedro Makes Barcelona Decision
According to reports in Spain, Joao Pedro is now dreaming of a potential move to Barcelona, with the Catalan club emerging as a long-term ambition for the Chelsea striker.
The Brazilian is said to be deeply frustrated by his international omission, and that disappointment is believed to have strengthened his desire to return to the elite stage at club level in Europe.
Barcelona are understood to be monitoring the situation, although Chelsea —who recently appointed Xabi Alonso as their new manager — have no intention of sanctioning any departure and regard Pedro as a central part of their long-term project.
Mundo Deportivo report that the striker has long admired the Spanish giants, growing up watching players such as Ronaldinho and Neymar, while also maintaining familiarity with current Barca winger Raphinha.
However, any potential move remains complicated. Chelsea’s stance is firm, and unless the player actively pushes for an exit, a transfer appears unlikely at this stage. Still, the combination of international disappointment and growing European interest ensures the situation is one to watch closely in the months ahead.
