Jose Mourinho has revealed to Sky Sports that he is “really happy” at Tottenham and is excited about what the future holds for him and his players.
He took over in difficult circumstances given Mauricio Pochettino’s popularity as well as the team’s poor run of form, having won just three out of 12 league games under the Argentine before he was dismissed. Since then, Mourinho has tried to steady things, and five defeats in 19 games indicate that there has been progress albeit with been bumps in the road, particularly as Spurs remain competitive in cup competitions and have a realistic shot at finishing in the top four in the Premier League.
The Portuguese manager’s admission comes after Paul Merson suggested that he is unhappy at Spurs and has returned to “grumpy Mourinho”, though it seems that is actually far from the truth. Mourinho’s statement that he is looking “forward to what is coming, and even more for what is coming next season” has been well received by Spurs fans, many of whom believe success awaits if their manager is sufficiently backed by Daniel Levy.
