Jose Mourinho to Tottenham: Fans link Nemanja Matic to Spurs

Jose Mourinho is the new manager of Tottenham, returning to football management under 12 months since being sacked by Manchester United.

Mourinho replaces Mauricio Pochettino, dismissed by Spurs after spending over five years with the club, guiding them to the Champions League final last season.

One of football management’s superstars, Mourinho has to turn around a poor start to the season. They sit 14th in the Premier League, 11 points off the top four and have already been eliminated from the League Cup.

He takes over a squad that has several senior players in contract disputes with the club; Toby Alderweireld and Christian Eriksen could leave for free next summer if their deals aren’t extended.

Mourinho brings with him a reputation for bringing in big-money players. Nemanja Matic is just one example, a player he has signed more than once.

The experienced Serbian was a key part of his sides at both Chelsea and Manchester United, helping the former to win the Premier League back in the 2014/15 season. Bearing that in mind, some fans immediately linked Matic and Mourinho with a reunion following the Portuguese’s appointment.
