The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern have been absolutely delighted with the fine form of Romelu Lukaku this season…
The Belgian has needed no time to settle in at Old Trafford, having already bagged 4 goals in the Premier League.
On Tuesday night he was in fine form once again, scoring once more for his club as they cruised to victory in their first Champions League game of the season.
It’s clearly been a very good start to life at his new club, and according to Paul Hayward of the Telegraph, he is already on course for great things at Old Trafford.
Discussing the Belgian in a recent column, the journalist has made no secret of his support for Lukaku, stating that “all signs suggest” that he is going to make a name for himself at Old Trafford.
He writes: “This is Lukaku’s time – his chance – a fact he seems to grasp, and relish. His urge to contribute to the play at all times bodes well. So did his goal: the first of many”.
It’s certainly high praise for the young Belgian, but he warrants that level of expectation after such a fine start.
His form is on par with the likes of Wayne Rooney and Zlatan Ibrahimovic during their early days at the club, and whilst the hard part is yet to come, things are looking very good indeed.
No pressure, Romelu.
Landlord’s Verdict
He was a big money signing, but Lukaku has already shown that the Red Devils are on to a winner.
The Belgian might not be the best on the ball, and he may seem clumsy at times, but the fact of the matter is that he scores goals – and that’s more than can be said for a few of the other summer signings in the Premier League.
It’s a long road, but he’s certainly taking the right route.
