Juan Foyth has become an emerging star at Tottenham Hotspur this season as he starts to get a run of games.
The Argentine, who saw his performances earn him a place in the national side, had a rough introduction to Premier League life, as he conceded two penalties in the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
However, he has since gone from strength-to-strength with his displays as he looks to dislodge the likes of Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen and Davison Sanchez from the first-team picture.
To help him achieve that, it appears he could take some inspiration from one former Premier League legend that he admitted he ‘looked up to’ a lot.
Speaking to football.london, Foyth revealed that Rio Ferdinand was one of his idols when growing up and stated that the former defender’s strength had impressed him.
“I looked up to [Ferdinand] very much. I used to like his physical strength,” he said.
The Verdict:

Foyth is still only 21-years-old and has plenty of time left to develop his game and using Ferdinand as a source of inspiration may only help him to get better, especially in terms of his strength.
The young Argentine has made just nine appearances for Tottenham so far this season, however, he has shown the ability and potential he has and can expect to break into the first-team at Wembley and become a regular in the very near future.
Hopefully for Spurs, Pochettino and Foyth’s sake though, he will be able to emulate Ferdinand on the pitch and win a lot more than the former Premier League legend managed to accomplish throughout his illustrious career.
