Southampton recently confirmed the departure of Dusan Tadic to Ajax and one player that is set to join him out of the St. Mary’s exit door is Guido Carrillo.
Carrillo has failed to make any sort of impact at Southampton since joining from Monaco in a £19m club-record deal (via BBC Sport) back in January and is now expected to leave St. Mary’s in the coming days.
According to Sky Sports, Carrillo, who is valued at £13.5m by Transfermarkt, could join former Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino at La Liga outfit Leganes as soon as tomorrow, and the Saints are absolutely correct in letting the Argentine reunite with the club’s ex-boss.
With Charlie Austin’s constant battles against injuries and Manolo Gabbiadini and Shane Long’s struggles in front of goal, Southampton simply can’t afford to keep all four strikers on their books.
Moving on Carrillo is the right decision and the Saints must now look to bring in a replacement that will actually be capable of scoring goals, or risk the threat of another relegation battle.
Take a look at what Southampton fans have had to say on Carrillo’s imminent exit below…
Nice record signing we have there….

So in hindsight we only really got 55million for Van Dijk, after wasting 20m on Carrillo.
Nice work chaps #Saintsfc

Carrillo going on loan is a great shout, his wages get paid & he’s in the shop window in an arguably easier league – win/win I say… Now, who are we going to sign next? #SaintsFC
