Southampton know they need to make big improvements if they’re to stay in the Premier League come May.
Despite a mini-resurgence under new boss Ralph Hasenhuttl, the Saints have stumbled in recent games and find themselves in 17thplace, level on points with Burnley – who are a place below.
Having not spent enough over the summer, Southampton need to eye some new, quality players and fast – for example RB Leipzig’s Kevin Kampl.
Kampl, (who is valued at £16.2 million on Transfermarkt) is a midfielder that could bring so much to Hasenhuttl’s new-look Southampton side.
A high-pressing style is what the Austrian likes to have his team playing and Kevin Kampl is a seasoned player that could orchestrate that well.
With the ability to play on either side of midfield, as well as through the centre, Kevin Kampl could offer a lot more strength in a number of different positions.
Kampl has again been a massive player in the heart of midfield for RB Leipzig, with two goals and seven assists during his 26 appearances so far.
The 28-year-old is extremely talented and it’s no wonder he is so vital for the German side because of his all-round play.
He has pace, fantastic dribbling ability and a brilliant eye for a pass, which could make him a vital addition for Southampton.
The Saints don’t have a player who can carry the ball and provide goals and assists like Kevin Kampl does, hence why he would make such a good signing. Indeed, alongside Pierre Emile Højbjerg, the two could truly flourish.
Without impressive signings like the 28-year-old, Southampton could face an immensely tough battle to stay in the Premier League, so money needs to be spent.
