Tottenham Hotspur are preparing a big-money move for Benfica centre-back Ruben Dias, that is according to a report from Notícias ao Minuto via Ricky Sacks.
It is suggested that Jose Mourinho is ready to bring in a few new players in the summer in a bid to revamp his squad ahead of the 2020/21 season and he will prioritise trying to sign the 17-time Portuguese international. Defence is certainly an area in which Spurs have struggled this season, indeed they have conceded 32 goals in just 25 Premier League outings, keeping only four clean sheets which is the joint lowest of any club in the top flight (premierleague.com).
Added to that, it is expected that one of their centre-backs, Jan Vertonghen, will leave in the summer with the Belgian’s contract set to expire (Transfermarkt).
Several Spurs fans have been reacting to the reports that the club may be interested in Dias, with some suggesting that he would be a strong addition. However, others are a little sceptical that Daniel Levy will spend big bucks on the 22-year-old.
