Leeds United haven’t had the best of luck with Chelsea loanees this season. After signing Izzy Brown as he recovers from a knee ligament injury and then seeing Jamal Blackman return to the club with a broken leg, they’ve completed a hat-trick of failures as Lewis Baker has been recalled by his parent club, and the fans are delighted he’s gone.
Lewis Baker has gone back to Chelsea. Deal at Leeds is over. Expectation is that he’ll be loaned out quickly to another Championship club. #lufc

Lewis Baker has been far from successful at Elland Road. In his half a season in Yorkshire he’s managed just 14 appearances across both the Championship and the two domestic cups. In those games, he’s failed to score a goal and has just one assist to his name as his loan spell has petered out into disappointment. However, his departure will mean that the Whites can loan in another player.
That has to be the silver lining of this move. Baker has been using up a spot in the squad and valuable wages. His loan spell with Middlesbrough was shockingly bad and now this move has just topped it. To say that the 23-year-old will be lucky to ever make it at Chelsea is an understatement, and it would come as no surprise if he was snapped up permanently by a struggling Championship team, or even a League One side.

Maybe he'll put no effort in there either.

Complete waste of time.

Won't be remembered, that's for sure, wasted a place that someone better could have filled. pic.twitter.com/kyr4Z17ozI

Failed to make an impression on both occasions he was given his chance. Not a big loss. Good luck to the lad

Blessing in disguise this. He wasn't cutting it and it will force the club to replace him with someone who will cut it

Definitely going to Norwich to bag a 89th minute offside header against us

The Whites are delighted that Baker’s gone and certainly won’t miss the midfielder as he looks set to join a new Championship club on-loan.
