West Brom manager Carlos Corberan rejected an 18-month deal at Leeds United, according to Football Insider.

The Lowdown: Radrizzani’s post

The Whites are on the hunt for Jesse Marsch’s long-term successor, with owner Andrea Radrizzani sharing an update with supporters on Twitter.

The Italian was hoping for ‘white smoke’ on Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning, however, as we know, that is yet to materialise.

Former Leeds assistant Corberan was thought to be a target, but it doesn’t look as if a return to Elland Road is on the cards.

The Latest: 18-month deal

Football Insider shared a story on Wednesday regarding Leeds and Corberan. They claimed that the Spaniard was actually the favoured candidate but rejected an initial 18-month contract from the Whites.

The Baggies boss has then signed a contract extension at The Hawthorns until the end of the 2026/27 season.

The Verdict: Not the first setback

Corberan, labelled 'incredible' this season by journalist Daniel Hewitt, could have been a smart addition after excelling in the Midlands, taking the club from the relegation zone to the playoffs in just 13 Championship fixtures.

However, he wasn’t the first coach to snub a move to Elland Road. According to reports in Spain, Leeds wanted Real Madrid coach Raul at all costs, but the former striker turned also them down.

It’ll be interesting to see where the club go from here, with Rayo Vallecano's Andoni Iraola and Feyenoord’s Arne Slot two potential candidates, with the search possibly taking longer than Radrizzani may have liked.
