Leeds United have been without vital midfielder Kalvin Phillips for the last few matches as he tries to recover from a shoulder injury. He has clearly been a huge miss as the Whites have lost their last couple of games.
Supporters of the club will be happy to hear however that he might be returning from injury sooner rather than later after he dropped an unexpected update.
Phillips looking to return after the international break
Leeds Live have reported that during his road to recovery, the Englishman was speaking to Leif Davis, with the teammates playing Call of Duty whilst Davis was live-streaming on Twitch.
Davis asked how the injury was healing and whether he could play against Arsenal. Phillips replied: “Yeah. Hopefully, anyway,” while revealing he is “still sore” and may have to get an injection at the end of the international break.
This is a huge boost for Leeds
Phillips returning for the fixture could be a huge boost for Marcelo Bielsa as he has had a very impressive start to life in the Premier League. The 24 year-old has been a menace for opposition attacks as he has managed on average 3.4 tackles, 1.6 interceptions and 1.2 clearances (WhoScored) per game before injury.
The three games that Bielsa has been without the midfielder in the Premier League have seen the Whites concede eight goals. Meanwhile when he has featured, the club have only conceded six goals in five matches (Transfermarkt).
With the Gunners’ form not great following their 3-0 loss to Villa, this could be the perfect time for Leeds to turn their poor form around and get the three points. This looks much more likely to happen if they can get Phillips fit for the game.
In other news, one pundit has slated a Leeds player for what he did against Leicester City. Have a read who it was here!
