Leeds United picked up an emphatic 5-0 victory on Tuesday against West Bromwich Albion, and manager Marcelo Bielsa was full of praise for midfielder Jamie Shackleton.
What Bielsa had to say about Shackleton
Speaking via Leeds Live about the player, Bielsa said: “Good organisation, energetic, he’s quick, he can surprise opponents, plays in a position which has many varieties as a box-to-box midfielder. He defends with Phillips and attacks with Pablo. Sometimes on the left or right-centre side in the same game. All those games at this level are not easy to resolve. Has character and takes on his responsibility.”
The player did impress when he featured
Shackleton played for 32 minutes against the Baggies and managed 20 touches of the ball (SofaScore). During this time, he won two ground duels, had an 88% successful pass rate and also made one interception and two tackles.
This was a very decent performance, especially considering that Shackleton only returned from injury a few weeks ago and is still adapting to life in the Premier League. In his cameo appearance, Shackleton has shown Bielsa and Leeds that the club have some great squad depth that they can rely on as the fixtures continue to come thick and fast in this busy winter period.
